SHORT SHIFTER Q --scion tc to camry

the TRD USA website says they just came out with a short shifter for the Scion tc. However, it does not list this part under the camry 4cyl. Even though these two cars have the same motors, do they not have the same tranny/gearboxes? I would think they would, it would be silly to try to make something else when the one they have is already so good.

If anyone knows if this short shifter would actually work for my car plz help

Why would it be silly? Nissan did it with the KA24 engine. The Altima, Hardbody, and 240SX had the engine.... and all three had different trannies. Mind you the Altima is the only one of those that is FWD which would require a different tranny but the Hardbody and 240SX were both RWD. You could argue that the Hardbody needed different gearing because it's a truck... well with that argument, the Camry is a family car and the Scion TC is aimed at the younger crowd which would make it a sport compact... therein lies why it would not be silly to have a different tranny.

Right. Tranny has nothing to do with it. I'm using a short shifter from a gen 7 Celica in my '94 Camry. The trannies are completely different. The shifter just happens to fit since Toyota uses nearly the same one for most of their cars.

Yeah.. I didn't even think of that. It has to do with the connection of the shifter. I used a 94-00 Integra shifter in my 95 Altima 5spd when I had it.

anyone know which "other model" short shifters will work for a GEN2 1990 Camry 5spd???

Im not looking at TRD expensive, at this point even an ebay knockoff for 20-30 will do
