Noob Question - Which engine do I have

Sorry for the noob question and I did so some searching for the answre so no flames please. My brother has a 93 toyta camry V6 LE (used to be mine) with about 210,000 miles on it.

We just lost the headgasket on it and the shop wants about $1,000 to replace it, but does not even recommend this route due to the amount of miles on it. We agreee.

I am looking into a "lower mileage" repacement engine from a junkyard, but am not sure of the engine I need. Is it the 3VZFE or the 1MZFE?

Finally, I am half tempted to do this engine swap myself, any sites with a DIY? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to source a mechanic locally that would be willing to take on this job.

Thought 94 and up was 1mz-fe. Pre 94 was 3vz-fe. this was taken straight off of the Camry FAQ Misc accessories section

Some V6 engine parts are interchangable between these models...
Gen.2 Camry/Gen.1 ES(250) V6 =2VZ-FE...
Gen.3 Camry (except 94)/Gen.2 ES(300) V6=3VZ-FE...
Gen. 3(94+)-Gen.5 Camry (except 2004+ SE), Avalon, Solara/ ES(300) V6=1MZ-FE...
Gen.5 Camry (2004+ SE), Gen.2 Solara, ES(330) V6=3MZ-FE...
