Below is a direct quote from 91MR2quickNA. I think he says it best. This is the reason you are seeing an oil residue in your PCV system. Basically there is no way to avaoid it since that is waht it was designed to do.
A PCV valve essentially keeps the engine from blowing itself up. PCV = Positive crankcase ventilation. Without any ventilation, the engine would be a time bomb waiting to explode because pressure builds as the engine creates vacuum. It also helps in recirculating blow-by gases that would normally be released into the atmosphere through the intake manifold. A lot of times, this is what causes the black carbon and oil gunk in the throttle body and manifold.
