2nd Generation can't find lowerings/performance springs for 2VZFE

Where's all my gen2s at?

I'm having problems finding springs for my 88 2VZFE. I found some Intrax but they're only for 4 cylinders.

I was thinking. Our car are pretty much similar in style and structure...but what about weight difference? I'm sure the V6 is a lil heavier, but will those 4 cylinder Intrax springs hold the V6? I see some of you V6ers claim to sport it. And I'm sure you are all sporting the 4 cylinder springs; if upgraded. So how does the ride feel? Performance? Should I stick with my stock springs? I really wanna lower my car without cutting the springs.

I'm still waiting for my KYB gr-2 struts to come in but really need to know about the springs!

All info is appreciated!

Thnx for replying atobe. Easier said. Still can find it. Does anyone know the weight difference b/w the gen2 4 cylinder/ 6 cylinder camry? Why do they make performance lowering springs for the 4 cylinder and not the 6. Or did they? Guys, I've been searching and redefining my searches and nothing matches my 88 camry 2VZFE. I am also surprise that there are no threads similar to this.

You can use the lowering springs from the 4cyl. The front may be a little lower than specified, because of the added weight of V6.

What about performance wise? With the front a lil lower, am i sacrificing corning stability. I mean, my tires won't rub will it? If so I might go for the Intrax springs specifically made for the 4 cylinder. Talk about downgrading! Arrrrrgh!!!!

Yeah bro. But non of them talk about their performance. I see some members who stated they are using the same specified springs for the i4 on their V6. I guess it'll be alright otherwise they'll be complaining.

The Gen2 camrys are similar, however, it's the weight difference I'm taking into consideration. That's whats worriying(sp?) me.

I guess I'll have to wait it out. And see what others have to say.

I4 and V6 Cams use teh same suspension... the worst having it lowered will do is you might scrape on curbs or speed bumps but even then that's not likely on gen2's. If anything, lower car = lower center of gravity = better handling.

the i4 intrax springs will fit fine, but the front tires on my car rub prett bad. I'm going to swap the intrax springs out for stock i4 springs and see what happens, when I get the time. The back is fine though.

I haven't checked to see if the control arms are parallel to the road or not, which is a good indicater of how far you should lower for performance vs. appearance ususally.

2nd Generation Springs on Order...

I went with a mild upgrade on the struts and that's supposely an exact replacement...KYB GR-2 struts. Tokico makes high performance struts for the gen2 cam. I should've went for Tokico. You can find them easily...try Google.

As for the springs (thnx for ya 2 cents Jack!), I went to Toyota's Parts Warehouse and after two hours of chats, they found my springs. They said, "Eibach (But my year long search found that Eibach's springs only went as far back as the gen3 camrys)." Toyota said it's the right one. Now I have to wait at least 2 months because it's on back order. Or is it a special order?! Who knows?! I'll keep you guys updated!

And yes...I don't think I'll be putting the I4 springs on my V6. As Jack stated, he did have rubbing problems on the front tires.

My tokico shocks are bad-ass. I have next to no squat under braking or hard acceleration. The front end looks really good lowered with the intrax springs, don't get me wrong, but it rubs a lot on the inner fenderwell specifically. Here's a pic with just the front intrax springs and stock rears:
