Weatherstrip

Hi,

I'm planning to replace the weatherstrip in my GEN 3, cuz its leaking those sticky black gooey stuff out. Causing my door sometimes sticking.

I went on to http://www.toyotadealer.com/bob-brid...ts_catalog.cgi
and I came across 2 items for weatherstrips.

Weatherstrip and Weatherstrip retainer.
What is the difference?

Also, under Weatherstrip, it gave me:
Weatherstrip (Door L/R) and Weatherstrip Assy (Door L/R).

Whats the difference between all those items?

i would also like to know... my weather striping on the rear doors is also leaking gooey stuff

Replacing the strip won't fix the problem. The goo is coming from behind the door panel. The only way to properly fix it, is to remove the panel and clean all the crap under there. You can remove it with WD40 or goo-gone.

The retainer is the clip that holds the strip to the car. An assembly is probably the strip and the clips together.

Just clean it, save your money for something else!
