More contact patch means better grip. And as you get larger rims, they offer better performance tires. There aren't that many great tires for 15's, but if you get 17's there are tons of race tires to choose from

but then with bigger rims you add more weight which in turn kills your accel times, but the choice of tires goes from almost none to LOTS! just watch out for how much your wheels weigh compared with your origional ones

I was thinking of some Light Weight 17" but $$ is a real factor, I'm a college student with a job with little pocket money, its more scholarships. But here is some thing that look like i can afford (w/ payments)

It really doesn't make a huge difference in your acceleration. Barely noticable. Only something ricers would imagine up
