I have dents in my driverside door. i have power windows and locks. Will a dx model door with manual windows work? The door only costs $40 at the junkyard and it is the same color.
I don't see why it shouldn't work, but i'd assume that after you take out the door with the master switches for the other windows to work the other windows wouldn't work, or would they?

I wonder if the outside shell of the door could be separated from the actual frame of the door. It's a very hard question. This door is only $40 and it would cost $250 to get the one that is there fixed so I would be saving a whole bunch of money that could go toward the purchase of my new Diamond Clear Headlights that has a GB going right now as we speak. (small plug).
I'd say take your door apart and take a photo of how the workings with the power window/locks, etc looks like and where there are mounting points for the door trim
and then go to the junkyard and compare

^ Not a bad idea. It looks pretty different. However, I was wondering if the inner part of the door could be separated from the outer shell. If so then I wouldn't even have to worry about that.

I'm pretty sure they should be the same, it's just the equipment that's different. It would cost Toyota more to create another door just for manuals or for automatic windows, so I'm sure their thinking is to make one that can be used for either manual crank or auto windows. Goodluck!
you will have to take out all your power shit and put it all on the other door. if you want to keep it there... that is.
it will unbolt and bolt in the other door no problem. you will most likely have to take your glass with it too...

Thanks Zoni. Do you know how hard this will be? I have no clue. Is it better for me to pay someone? I've never removed the glass before.
Question: would a paintless dent removal be 50-60 right? (at least thats what i pay...well mostly 30-40, but mine are small door dings??). So all that work to save 10-20 bucks...but if its truly costing you 250..then your idea is well worth it!
the only way you can make a door look like new after getting even a small dent, is to get a new door skin, have it put on and painted... or to swap a junkyard door that is in perfect shape on.
any dent in a door skin will leave ripples if you dont replace the skin, no matter how good the body shop is.
the door has a few different spots that need to be fixed. Toward the front of the door there are small dings and in the center there is a dent. It scraped a bit of paint off so it needs to be painted. The body shop said they would fix it for $250 and that they would need to paint part of the fender and the back door. Another body shop said $391 and another said $780.
hah i dented my passenger rear last week going out of my garge lol.....i mean if u can find a door for only 40$ and same color go for it....and yes the power components can go on an DX level car
Why waste the time swapping the power windows? If it is the same color, just remove the outside shell and put it on your current door. They're two seperate pieces.
