Question for the people with lowering springs..

I'm thinking about getting some lowering springs, but I just wanted to know how other peoles rides have been with lowering.

I was talking to one of the mechanics at the shop that I'm going to get the springs from and he told me that putting lowering springs on any toyota will hurt the feel of the ride, I'm not sure if thats right or not, but he gave me this whole story about how " if you look at most toyotas, they have usually a 4" wheel gap opposed to most honda cars that have 3" wheel gap..." Anyways he talked on and on until I finally said the word "supra" which shut him up. I later talked to someone else from the shop and he pretty much told me the same thing what the other guy said.

Now this shop is very popular and I see many people here all the time from cobras, EVOs, STi's, 3000GT's, Supra's, 300ZX's, 240's, ect..

Along with a few of my friends who've gotten stuff from here, so they're pretty knowledged. I think..

The price for the springs is pretty cheap, because I have connections with the shop and can get them for a low low price.

My question is, will my ride feel rough like a honda (for example: If I'm driving 50 in an accord/civic it feels fast, while in the camry I can be going 70 and it feels like 30mph), or will it still sustain the comfortabilty of that of a Camry. I know many people will say, well it depends on the brand of the springs ect. I just want to know the overall feel, because I don't want to sacrifice the feeling of comfort over looks..

Also, anyone with springs, have you notice any performance in your launches with the lowering springs on?

Thanks in advance.

it's not the springs that will affect the feel of the ride as much as the struts that you choose....

and no, the car basically feels the same....when you're going fast, it still feels like you're going slow...

First off, its going to look different.
Then it will ride different. To reduce the roughness leaves only one opportunity. Do not go for low profile tires. Keep the 75 or 65 profile aspect and the ride will not seem so tight.
I like the low and a little bumpier ride. Keeps me sharp.

^^ as he said it...

BTW: seek locally to see how has lowered a toyota in the past, then go to them. by the way the mechanic was talking i don't think he know what he's doing..or he's a few frenchfries away from a happy meal!

my ride is A LOT firmer and less bouncy.. but then again, thats probably becasue my shocks have a different rate for the longer part of its travel. but, springs will make the ride a bit more...stiffer would be the word.

stuff springs/shocks for that racey follow the bumps on the ground bouncy look

feels more responsive, depending ont he struts you choose. Lowers the center of gravity and reduces roll on tight turns....

Just installed goldline springs with 1.5 drop. Ride is a little stiffer but that probably because of the stock strust they're mounted to (and all the damn potholes in CT). In regular driving on good roads, ride is indistinguishable from stock. Handling feels better with strut bar in the mix.

camrys have squeaky suspension lowering it would make it even Squeakier i put springs on my car and it pissed me off so i'm waiting to put a lowering strut with springs and spring would kill your stock struts in about a year or two because ders too much tension in the strut

I'm rollin on Tein S.Techs and 18" wheels with 40 series tires. This car rides better than any other car I've ridden in with a drop period let alone the 40series tires. I've ridden on Pro Kits and I have to say the S.Techs kick their ass in regards to ride quality.

For a gen3.. go with Eibach though. I don't know if Tein makes anything for your application.

if you do springs you definetly should replace the struts with some high quality aftermarket ones(KYB, Tokico). putting lowering springs on a car with stock struts will defintly decrease the life of those struts. new struts will also make your ride better and more controlled.

Thanks everyone for the comments,

Another question, since I really don't want to make a new thread, but I was turning at 40mph today and the car made a loud screech, if the car is lowered that won't happen right?
