a gen 4 camry and a gen 2 ES 300.
yes.
Probably 95% of any ES/Camry is the same, but all the fine details are different.
ES 300's will likey continue to be made in japan indefinately so they can keep ES and windom parts at one location.
Bodies are always different (ES's average a 10% aerodynamic advantage on every car, going back to the 250. Eh.. it's a 12 hp advantage at 140mph haha)
The engines are not stronger per-say, but you could argue they might get picked off the assembly line.
ES's get the better powerplants earlier. They got vvt long before the camry did.
Lot of little things are different. Different leather/wood, different steering ratio. Same shocks/springs, but the ES's somehow wind up being slightly floatier.
Add 100 lbs of sound deadining throughout the car.
ES 300's have no engine light on the hood...
ES's get the larger set of rear brakes (like 1/2" larger rotor through gen3, i think gen4's also)
It's all the detail stuff. More than asking what's different, go drive them back to back and let it sink in.
Not bashing the camries here, but you drive them both back to back, and you can "tell" the similarites (like the same basic toyota feel) but it feels like an entirely different car.
It's like driving a chevy, then driving the buick/caddy version. Totally different, but the same.
