They're there because they're there when you need more torque for towing, driving in snow/mud, etc.

Keep trying, when you blow your motor, you went too far.

Joking aside, let your auto do its own shifting, thats its job. If you have an ECT button, use it. If not, keep the pedal to the floor and your tranny will automatically shift closer to redline with the increased line pressures in your tranny.

Racing an auto just takes practice with your car. You have to learn how to play with the accelerator pedal properly to make it shift right as you start to get out of the powerband... if you just mash the pedal, you should feel the car go faster as it shifts to the next gear instead of slowing down... meaning, you probably wanted to jump to that gear just a bit sooner

Just practice, practice, practice (all in a safe and legal manner, of course)

Buddy that doesn't make any sense. Why would you start in 2nd gear? Too much torque? Lack of traction? Racing in the snow? Explain.

True on the first part, but shifting between L and 2 when powershifting is the best shift on auto's, the hardest is from 3rd to 4th (O/D).

I was on Hwy 7 yesterday night and I passed this Civic. He then came up to my car and tried to race me, I was on 3rd gear, I let him come up to me, I shifted down to 2nd, and I just took off, I shifted to 3rd and i was long gone. He then came back, I slowed down for him to catch up, and did the same, when he was beside me his friend on passenger side asked me if i had standard, but I didn't reply lol We took off again and I beat him again. His car was trying so hard, cuz I could hear all the noise from his car but his car couldn't get pass me. I only had trouble in shifting to O/D, just when i turned the O/D on, and let the gas padel go and pressed again, it didnt shift to 4th and tried again with giving it little more time and then it shifted to 4th and i was gone. Afterwards, he asked me to pull over at the gas station. He thought I had a V6 and couldn't believe me when i told him I've got no other engine mods than an intake and an exhaust!

He didn't say "why camry" but gave me props for doing up a camry like the way it is. I'm glad I have a camry and NOT a shitvic that everyone got, well almost everyone!

btw, it was not an Si, it was a black 4dr. EX with intake, exhuast, smoked tails, mod'd front bumper, and grey Montegi or something rims

He was telling me about a white completely done up camry with rims bodykit everything that he raced a while ago with his friend's GSR with NOS, but he still couldn't catch up to that camry even when he used NOS. I don't remember anyone with White Camry Gen3!

...just something to share. 8)
