yep, your car is slow...not much you can do about it unless you are willing to drop at least a grand into it.

Yup, purty much nuffin you can do which is low cost.

You can try getting light, new intake, headers...but then you get expensive. Click on the Sticky for Camry FAQ...and the other stickies while you are at it....start there.

Hmm..here's a cheap but long enduring mod....how much do you weigh?...could ya stand to lose 50 or 80 pounds?

I guess some cheap ones is to get a hi flo air filter like a drop in K & n or even keep the pwr button depressed (you'll waste some gas though).

laters

id say leave it stock for a long time, take every cent you think you should spend on mods, put it in the bank...after about a year or mabye 2, depending on how crazed you are, you'll have enough for a turbo/SC...then you can lay down some numbers.

well, he asked if it would boost his ponies, not make him go faster. The faster part is where you paint it hot pink and put a spoiler inth back..

lol fusion yeah you could be like us and get a V6 1mz-fe thrown in there but...
the CAI (cold air intake) and new muffler will boost youa LILLLLL bit..
you wont be able to tell any differance in power.. but if you redo your intake and exaust.. you may walk out with 20 HP.. my suggestion.. get the V6.. but if ya cant afford it.. go with lookz get some style... get a body kit.. maybe some lights.. if ya can offord.. but keep it clean and (non ricey).. but if ya want.. yes.. throw an CAI and a better exaust.. that will boost ya a lil bit.. fdor looks.. no one really cares about your muffler on the street.. they care for 1.. what your car looks like.. and 2.. whats under the hood.. so depending on what your worried about.. go for either one..

have an AWEsOMe lookin ride that is slow.. .. (remedy =- supercharger or Turbo)
Have a ugly car with better than stock performance ... ( remedy = get a body kit )

new muffler's worthless unless you do a custom catback with mandrel bent tubing. this will add hp, along with the CAI. The CAI works good to free up some power below-peak and smooths out the powerband a tiny bit a header is good for some all-around hp and if you want to spend some money (which at this point you'll be nearing a grand anyhow), you can get cams, pistons/rods, have the block bored out and honed (while you're doing pistons and rebuilding anyway) and a manual swap's worthwhile too.

You do the math and figure out what you can afford and what you want. To modify the car there's no real cheap way about things. You can make it fast (anyone who says otherwise hasn't done their homework) but you have to draw your line between price and performance.
