Just wondering how i can relocate the button....can i just add an extra length of wires to it and the reroute it somewhere or do i have to pull the wire from under and then relocate?

I took apart my stock shifter to get the button and wires out on my 96. I don't remember having to extend the wires, and I mounted it right "under/next to" the ECT/PWR button so I didn't have a problem with the wire length.

Yea, there's only 2 wires, OD is off when the wires are touching (switch depressed), and OD is on when the wires are not touching (normal). I relocated mine to a toggle switch under my head unit, and it works fine.
yes, i did the same... 2 prongs on a toggle switch, mine was on the bezel next to my shifter in my old 99 cam... it is fairly simple, just be careful that when you remove the old shifter... you don't lose thost itty itty wires down the shifter housing

well currently my stock shifter is quite ugly looking....the top is all peeling off and shit....so i want a new one....i've tried like 2 or 3 brands already.....either they are too short or the inner diameter's too small....oh btw.....do anyone know what the stock shifter shaft's diameter is?
