All Members Read Please, a plea from a friend

If you havn't read my other recent post, my (sisters) Camry was sent into a curb about four days ago.

I am at fault for this, for I was at the wheel, so I feel the responsibility to help the rebuild project. This is how I intend to help. There is a substantial amount of damage to the car. The passenger side wheels nailed a curb at thirty five with snap oversteer, so there are some parts I am going to need. Would you please think very hard of someone who has a unused Camry (Gen3) or you know of a parts car that I could find the parts pretty cheaply. I am in desperate need of my fellow TN members, and this would be a great time to show everyone how tight we really are compared to all these other board crews.

Thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for assisting me unfuck my sisters car.

I wont be listing the parts needed until tommaro at the earliest (August 9th) so I will edit my post or repost with a list of what is needed. Thank you again.

rObsolete with respect to his sister Gen3CamryGrl

First off, don't blame yourself! That's why they call it an accident

Your best bet is to search for parts at junkyards. Try these;

http://www.car-part.com/
http://www.taprecycling.com/
http://www.autobodypartsonline.com/
try ebay as well.

Ten pics, Load time WARNING

I am anything but a mechanic and I still cant distinguish between what parts are what when it comes to suspensions and steering. I have to wait until my Dad can help me compile a list later on today. Imagine you sent a car into a curb, and Im sure you can figure what was damaged. Most of the rodds are bent, so any of them are needed. Here, let me post some pictures.

your engine mounts seem to be a bit off.. u may need to get ur chassis re aligned b4 getting started on the repairs look for a body shop that can realign ur chassis for you that should make ur car straight after that its a hunt for parts.. u need a whole passengerside assembly for front and rear.. front meaning everything connected to ur wheel.. (shocks, brakes , brake lines, hub, arms anitswaybar cvshaft etc...) the rear looks a bit fucked up as well i'd get it as well.. rear would be (im assuming u got a 4cylinder either go for a disc brake swap or stick with ur drums same thing the shock/struts, brakes, the lines.. and the antisway bar cos i think the antisway bar is bent as well) but just for importance make sure u get ur chassis re aligned then u can see more of the parts that need changing... good luck rob... hope ur sis dont kill u hehehe

Sorry to hear about what happened, bro. Like the others said, don't worry about what happened and just look ahead.

I had an identical incident with a curb about a month ago with my Corolla GTS. So I think I can be of some help here.

You will need to replace at least the following suspension parts:

- strut
- knuckle
- rotor (duh)
- lower control arm
- hub
- various linkages
- drive shaft (maybe)

If you don't know what is what, check out car-part.com and use "search by images". That site will also help you locate a donor car. Junkyard will sell these components as a "clip" to reduce your costs and troubles.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

There's a large junk yard in my town.. I just got back from there few days ago and I saw at least 7 Gen3 Camrys.

Here is the toll free number. 1-800- 223-7020 .

Also, if you list specific parts, I can look for them next time I go out there.
This might be a better option since they leave all suspension parts on the car.. I think they only take out engines and trannys.. and leave everything else with the car, which means they don't have those parts on their computer database... So don't be discouraged if they say they don't have the parts..

I know they sell stuff through ebay, which means they are good at shipping things out, so if you find your stuff you need, they will ship it out to you.

Good luck.
