Building An Intake System? =)

If i wanted to customize my Intake system, could i buy aluminum piping and bend it somehow and just stick it in my car? Is that even possible? Has this been done before by any of you guys? Or u think it is a bad idea?

you can do it yourself.. but you're gonna need a Mandrel (sp) bender. I doubt you have one. The bend would also have to be pretty accurate... which will take you some time to perfect. I'd say it's a bad idea. Just get one from Blitz, or AEM or Injen... whoever. It'll be a lot easier in the long run.

Doing anything from scratch is usually more fun. It gives you a sense of pride. I've put everyone of my mods in personally. However an intake from scratch is real tough. Like Blaze said your gonna need some machinery and your gonna have to be good at it. If theres some type of metal shop in the area (their are plenty by me) then check that out.

I recommend a cheap OBX intake off ebay, if $ is the real problem. Metal is metal. If its not a CAI, its only going to be a sound improvement anyway. Plus you might actually lose some low end hp/torque. Same goes for exhaust performance upgrades. This has to due with a lose of back pressure with the increase in piping diameter.

Ok, I'll stop now before I write a book. I'd be glad to help you with anything else if I can.
