ABS Speed sensor removal

So do I have to rip the whole wheel apart to remove my speed sensor. I did a very stupid thing, and I knew better. I ripped the wires out of the sensor putting in new struts. Just curious if anyone has any experience removing one. There is a 10mm bolt on the outside that connects it but when I remove it (bolt), it doesn't come loose. I think I have to take the drum off along with the E-brake and disconnect it from the inside. My haynes manual has nothing on it. Thanks for help. I'm hoping to solder the wires back in, as a new one runs $200 or its gonna be no abs.

I'm having this same problem. Anyone have any advice? Factory service manual doesn't say there is much more to it than just removing that bolt. Thanks.

oh i didnt watch my mechanic replace mine...but he did it in under 10 minutes from the time he lifted my car to the time he put it back down to the ground.

AND for everyones future reference, the abs sensors MUST be removed prior to strut removal/installation or something will break. Unfortunatley most people/mechanics dont know toyota issued a service bulletin on this because of so many broken sensors.

Good Luck.
