a secret box in a camry?

so i was cleaning my trunk the other day and i came across a black box...

it's found underneath the small wooden board on the left side, a replacement for the garage opener...a sunglass holder! damn i never knew about this, and i've always wanted one too!

I found mine about 6 months after I bought the my 98. It was by the jack.

mine's from a Gen4.4 00'. i bet all gen4s have this...or possibly all of the Camrys could, but don't take my word for it.

yea it's underneath the carpet on the left side. the tools are found underneath the center of the carpet, attached underneath the wooden board (i think there are 3 boards total...left, center, and right). i think the space is empty under the right board; i don't remember.

I've got a '01 LE (Gen 4.5), and there are three boards - left (which for me has some rags, the 'netting' that comes with the car, and other assorted things), center (spare tire, tools), and right (jack).

The box on the left hand side of the trunk is not a hidden box.


That was what holds the factory 6 disk CD changer in until it was moved into the dash. All ES 300 / Windom's were like that until the mid->late 2nd generation = mid-late 4th generation Camry.
