Hi everybody!
I got a 99 Camry V6 and had the car since 58k miles..
I change the oil every 3k whit the regular Castrol GTX...
Now its got almost 72k and after a research i decidet to switch the oil to synthetic (Mobil 1)...
What do you guys think? am i doing right ? Does anybody ever had problems ? Because i know that high milage switching can couse leaking or something like that ?
and do you think a good flushing is neccessary? i am going to put Mobil 1 synthetic oil ! + K$N oil filter or Mobil oil filter... Can you please share your espirience with synthetic oil please... THANKS!
my maxima has been running on synthetic since the beginning..
Synthetic oil does in-fact have smaller molecules synthetic lubricants... however most say it is a myth you can't go back from dyno oil.
my suggestion to you is just switch and see how the car runs. If, by some chance, it starts to leak, you can easily switch it back to dyno and be on your way. However, i believe if your car doesn't leak now, i highly doubt it will start leaking.
however, if you flush + go synthetic ... maybe , just maybe. flushing would help get rid of carbon deposits, but switch to synethetic first and see if you can tell a difference.

Be careful. once you switch to synthetic, you should really keep putting it in. (unless you flush it out again) but @ 72k you should be ok tho since it is pretty early in the cars life.
Switching to a synthetic oil can cause piston rings to leak and in some very rare cases, piston slap or crank vibration.
I'm @ 170k and several different shops and mechanics have told me not to switch to synthetic, so I'm not.

Always swtich over ASAP.
Synthetic and dino mixing, will mix fine. Swap back and forth as much as you want...
But once you swap to synthetic, you should STAY with synthetic because it is superior.

A guy made a point once, something to this effect: "synthetic oil doesn't create oil leaks or destroy seals, those leaks were already there but synthetic oil shows you where the leaks are."
I swapped synthetic Mobil 1 into my 160,000 mi 3S-FE and there were NO leaks at all.
It's never too late, but once you go synthetic, you can never go back.
i just switched to m1 full synchethic, 99 1mz-fe, at 118k miles, i've heard difference opinions about switch to synthetic and can't go back while other said there is synthetic blend with regular oil where people don't wanna go full synthetic yet.
i am just hoping there is a less chance of sludge build up on my engine after switching.
It's never too late, but once you go synthetic, you can never go back.
I disagree - have gone back twice --I am at 170,000km & no leaks or oil burning. Will try & post a ggod oil info site here --http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi
Hope it works
