Power steering replacement.
I'm trying to replace the power steering hoses in my '87, and it's looking to be really annoying. So I was wondering if I could get a steering setup that was not powered, so that I wouldn't have to worry about the hosses or the pump going bad.
I didn't want to just remove the hoses and pump, plug the connections in the knuckle, and just say it doesn't have power steering, because then not only would it be harder to turn becouse of the fluid getting pushed on in the remaining system, but also I would be risking the steering system.
So, I called up my local Toyota dealer and asked if the 2nd gen was ever without power steering, so I could just replace the whole setup, and the parts guy said no.
So now I was wondering if anybody here knew if there is a non-power steering setup that will bolt in to my Camry,
Sorry for the length, I just want to be clear.
