hi i got a 1998 4cyl camry and i'm up against my friend 325i bmw i6 24valve 173 hp mines 133hp his car weighs 3 tonze do i stand a chance?? i'm thinking of taking out my spare tire and stuff.. and should i put my car off overdrive or keep it on?? any tips on beating this guy to shut him up or do i have no chance and just pull out my cousins gs-r..
sorry, but you have to be kidding, you have no chance. anyways, turning off overdrive won't make u fast, it'll only let u downshift faster when ur going over 60km/h or so. brake torque is all i can tell you. i beat one with a camry v6, but it wasn't much of a beating, not more than a car length after a long long while.
The driver, formerly known as Stevethecleric (Tommy), told me about racing a 325i a month or so ago. If memory serves me correct it was even (or maybe he was ahead out of the blocks) but the BMW caught and passed pretty easy.
Keep in mind tommy has a light weight gen2 camry.
So the idea of a mildly modded i4 camry, gen3+, running with any 325 is pretty far fetched. That would have to be one hell of a poor driver.

What does brake torque mean?

Instead of pulling out your cousin's gs-r (i dont really see much sense in that)
Why dont you just be the better man and ignore him and let him be with his nazi-mobile
I dont think your camry wouldnt be able to keep up...but so what?
Is your ego that big to need to street race?

you have no chance. period. i think your rockin the 5S-FE (someone correct me if im wrong) same as my gen 3. iv been in a 325i. you couldt beat him if your life depended on it.
unless of course you somehow got to his car before the race and started stabbing tires and pulling wires

Wrong company. VW are natzi cars. Direct translation: "The Peoples Car"
Anyways, he never DIRECTLY said he was street racing, so don't place that title on this thread. That's how worthy threads get locked.
And like they all said, you have no chance at all. He'll launch a lot quicker and weighs less than your car. He'll also have performance designed gear ratios in comparison to yours which are design for fuel economy. I wouldn't bother trying, it's just going to end in embrassment...
