2nd Generation rear disk conversion Qs

After much study, I have decided to do the drum to disk conversion on my gen2. I have a few questions, however:
Reguarding the brake lines, do I need the entire brake line that runs to the master cylinder or just the rubber brake line?
Reguaring the handbrake cables, what is the difference between these and the i4 handbrake cables? Also, are these easily accessable and are a direct swap?

If anyone can answer these questions or has some tips, I'd love to hear it!

I assume youve been there.

I havent done it myself, but from reading it, they show you where the parking brake cable runs, so it sounds like you need to get the whole cable. In the "what to get" section, he says to be sure to have the complete brake line and handbrake cable. I cant imagine why you would need new hardlines, or what the difference is between either the cable or the lines, but if you are going to a junk yard, you might as well get everything,

Aye, thanks for the reply. Yeah I've read over the tutorial a few times.

I would imagine that the handbrake cable is very straight-forward. And I'm not sure why the current hardlines wouldn't work.

really i cant imagine why you would need either the hardlines or the cable...its not like they are really different, its a cable and a hollow tube of metal.

The EPC shows different P/N's for the flexible hoses and parking brake cables only. The other parts have the same P/N for both VZV21 and SV21 chassis codes.
The parking brake setup looks similair to the gen 3 one. The two cables are attached to the equalizer under a heatshield in the exhaust tunnel. It's not bad to work on if you have the car on a lift and you unbolt the cat-back from the converter so you can get past it easier.

I dont think you need to remove the whole exhaust system, expecially since the gen2 cat is at the manifold.

So it sounds like you should go ahead and get the parking brake cable, and the soft lines, you should be set from there.

Alright, how do the softlines detach from the hardlines?

You don't need to remove the whole system, but it'll be alot easier to get to the equalizer if you unbolt the exhuast from the cat so you can let it hang a little. Also, he has aftermarket exhaust

They should be standard flare nut fittings. If you don't have a flare nut wrench, it's not a bad investment as box-end wrenches tend to round off flare nuts easily.

i've got the parts sitting in my garage atm, but havent got time to put them in...also i need some extra parts. but i'm waiting for parts for my front brake upgrade too so i'm not to fussed with putting them on atm.

what you will need:

hubs, discs, calipers, v6 brake line (is uses a banjo fitting to go onto the caliper), and the full uncut handbrake line. then depending on your parts, u may need new brake pads, rotors machined, and drum shoes.

u want pics of the vzv parts?

Cheers
