2nd Generation Are my bearings going?

I have a very annoying noise in my Camry. It's a buzzing sound, like something rubbing. It only does it when I turn the steering wheel past center to the right. As soon as I go back across center to the left, it sounds fine. I looked for a week to find something rubbing in the well, or underneath, but found nothing. I put the car on stands. and the noise was not there, so it only does it under load. My friend told me my wheel bearing was going out. Wouldn't it makes noise both directions if it was the bearing? Forgive me for my ignorance, lol. BTW it's a 1990 Dx 5-spd. Any advice as to what to look for would be greatly appreciated. Or a link or reference to a troubleshooting guide would be great. I'm starting to think my Chilton is worthless for troubleshooting. The noise also gets louder the faster I go. It's not really noticeable until I hit 40+ mph, then it get loud. This noise is going to drive me mad, and I refuse to pay some guy $150 that only works on GM cars, to tell me what it is, then charge me $500 more to fix it. Thanks everyone for you time. :

Check out ur CV joints, inner and outer, both sides. If the boots are torn then the rubbing/squealing is probably that, and most likely you will have to replace it because there is too much dirt in the system by now...be careful they can break after awhile...ive never heard of that happening but im positive its possible. If you have experience and can take apart and clean which ever joint it may be do that and save some money otherwise you should replace immediately.

Your friend is probably correct. Bad bearings will start making noise when cornering because there is more of a load on them at this time. If it only makes noise in one direction, then only one side is gone.

No clicking, my celica had bad CV's that clicked. This is mainly a buzzing sound. The CV boots are in good shape from what I can tell. Everything's tight. Could it be my power steering pump at all? A friend said his made horrible buzzing noise when it started going out on him. Thanks for the advice all :
