HID conversion pics.

I've recently retrofitted Lexus IS300 HID kit into my Solara.

Here are some pics.

Hey Jay! Looking good!

I also did an OEM HID conversion (off an Audi) on my Camry. I had to Dremel the hell out of the OEM-fitment HID bulb base to get it to fit the 9006 light socket. Also, the beam pattern seamed way out of wack. What is your experience with it?

Thanks guys.

Yeah Dremel was God sent!!!

My headlight fits H4 bulbs, which has way different retaining base/plate....So I cut out the retaining plate from the factory H4 bulbs and fit it to D2R bulb..

I retrofitted only the bulbs, not the projectors or IS300 reflectors, so my headlight housing looks OEM.

About the beam patterns, I am still experimenting with it. It's getting better. It's pretty good right now.. But I want it better.

I learned from that famous HID web page(I forgot the URL) that focal point and bottom shielding is crucial for the H4 housing, so I am making shields out of beer cans to cover the bottom of the D2R bulb, so it doesn't create any upward beam, which will blind on-coming traffic.

SpectraBlue... Do you have D2S bulbs? I think you do since you got them from audi, which uses projectors. That could be one problem.. You should either get D2R bulbs or create some sort of shieldings. I don't exactly know how 9006 bulbs works.. I will get you that HID web page..

Once again...

The web page's http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/

Also, since Jay, you've got the H4 base, how did you deal with light going into the high-beam (lower portion) of the headlamp? Otherwise, you'll be driving around with glare-a-plenty.
