i am currently buying tires for my 96 camry le 5sfe. i am looking at the michelin hydroedge and the bf goodrich traction t/a h. the michelin is designed for water but is a better handling tire and looks good. it is also $70 more for four than the bfgoodrich. any one have any other suggestions
knailgun: i was looking at these cuz i need new tires but not enuf for rims so i was just gonna go performance and the falken's for my 15's are very reasonable price...
i have the same questions as kenny1773, please enlighten us knailgun!

go with continental xtreme contacts. they are a very good price. i have a set and they seem to be wearing well after 15k hard miles. dunlop sp a2's are good to but the treadwear/life is crap. both of these tires are cheaper than the ones ur looking at.
Most of the reviews I have read about this tire state that the sidewall is soft and it doesn't corner well, that is my #1 complaint about the bridgestones I have now, I will pass.
Also, many of the reviews said the tires got very noisy over time, another thing I can't stand.

no wonder u hate ur re92's. the reviews on tirerack.com says they're crap, especially when you compare them to the conti's. the conti is better in every category rated on tirerack.com. when u look closer u will also notice that the conti's are "ultra high performance" while the re92's are only "high performance tires". also since my treadwear is not really low i cant comment on the noise when the tires age. im just saying, i ve had many tires and these conti's DO NOT have soft sidewalls. i dont think ive ever felt like the tires have fallen over on their sidewalls.
i dont know much about falken's... never owned a set.
just so i dont get flamed for this... "this is only my $.02, take it or leave it"
if you are not a road demon, I would go with the Goodyear Regatta2
Very solid tire. Good traction, quiet, good over water, long lasting, but not a high performace/road racer tire.
did not rotate my tires for 20k and it still looks good.
I have BF Traction T/A and I love them...they got good reviews from Tirerack.com, that's why I bought them in the first place. Oops.. I just saw that Michellin Hydroedge scored better.. oh well. get Michellin then..
Look at the Dunlop Sport A2's. I have them on both my 94 and 98 Camry 5SFe's. This is an H speed rated tire, which should be what your car came with, that has recieved high marks on many websites. It gives good handling and good wet and snow traction for an H spped rated tire. It should be about half of what the Michelins will cost. If you belong to Sam's Club, they can special order them for you.
