2nd Generation AHHHH I have a new leak

AHH help I was driving to work today and I say a little smoke, when i stoped the car and poped the hood there was a oil leakin resonable bad, it look like it is coming from the oil filter I need some help what happened, the oil stoped leaking when I stopped is there any easy fix I can do to repair her


Please I love my 87 camry first car I bought

Please assist

may be just oil filter is loose. once it's cool off, check it out.

hope you are not using cheap oil filter

no, i use the same one that toyota uses, are there any bolts under the oil filter that may need to be replaced

while leaving hood open turn car on and see where is comming from?

may be oil filter has hole or get a hole while installing. or somebody left rubber ring from previous oil filter.

No.

The oil filter screws directly onto the block.

2nd Generation

I ll have to clean it up and see if I can see where it is coming from, its just really odd, cause it looks like it leaked a fair amout, it was dripping down but it stopped, does everyone think i should try replacing the oil filter, are there any seals i may need to replace,

I can believe my luck with her

yes, once car is cool off little you can unscrew the filter and inspect.

put it back might you have to add some oil which you lost by opening.

sure it's not comming from valve cover check PCV is not plug

Check the one thats on there now. Make sure its not loose or improperly installed.

Theres no seals to replace.

ok, ill check the filter tonight, should it be ok to drive you think,

also bear with me i am not a mechanic where or what exactly is thee

I had the oil changed 1 month ago, and I had the injectors cleaned last summer. If I get the PCV valve off how will I know if its still good or if I should replace it??

I like to learn and Id prefer to do the changes my self

oh myti masters of mechanics help me help myself and Camila the 87 camry

I hope its just shes excited cause i told her about her new sibling thats coming Trixie TACO 05

Do you have a 3S-FE or 2VZ-FE?

3S-FEs don't have a PCV valve.

2VZ-FEs have one. Its on the left side of the engine near the intake manifold.


PCV valves only let air flow in one direction. So an easy test is to blow through it from both directions. Or just replace it, its only a few bucks for the part.
