The light's turning on at dawn, is called twighlight sentenial. That's normal, but you can switch it on manually if you turn the blinker handle.

The transmission is a 5 speed, so it's going to shift frequently. But take it in of you feel worried.

Yeah. The sensors on the Camrys aren't as sensitive as other cars, unlike my FX35. It turns on right when I go under a freakin bridge. My camry takes some time to turn on under the bridge, but that's only when I'm under it for a minute or so. It's a good feature, because the headlights won't turn on when you're rolling under a bridge when it's not needed.

The shifting is normal. Especially when you drive down a steep hill, it'll automatically downshift for you to help you slow down, so don't worry about that.

I have a 2004 Camry SE V6 and I activate the lights manually.

This is why.

R.S.O. 1990, CHAPTER H.8

Lamps

Lamps required on all motor vehicles except motorcycles

62. (1) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one-half hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall carry three lighted lamps in a conspicuous position, one on each side of the front of the vehicle which shall display a white or amber light only, and one on the rear of the vehicle which shall display a red light only. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (1).

April 2 & 3, 2005 I was in the GTA/Kitchener area, on the 401 on the Sunday I was disappointed at how may drivers did not have their lights on in near "White Out" conditions.

Just reach down and flick the switch.
