Cool

So tighten the clamp, and if that doesn't work, replace the thermostate, and radiator hoses.

It's 1987... They were probably worn out five years ago.

screw it, change the whole system, $100 for a radiator, $12 for a thermostat, probably $40 worth of hoses, and you'll never have a problem with them again. Chances are its got the original radiator, and chances are you start flushing it out and draining it and refilling it, your gonna crack it anyway, so just replace it, its not hard, save yourself the time and hassle 2 months from now when the rest of the cooling system starts going.

Check all the stuff below:

1. Lower radiator hose.

2. Thermostat housing.

3. Water pump housing.

4. Water pump.

Try getting ahold of a cooling system pressure tester. Some autoparts stores rent them out.

You can pressurize the cooling system with it and pin point the leak.

OK

I just did my water pump so here is what its like.

It runs water out just near the engine, if you take the rad cap off it pisses out like nothing else.

however when the cap is on it only drips

so start the car with the rad cap off and the water in the radiator should be seen,

When its up to operating temp the water will start to move around in the radiator when this starts you need to see if it is leaking i mean gushing out of there

then compare it to when the pump is not working if it is leaking from the pump more under pressure its time for a new one

Prob dont make sense but i cant realy explain it.

its a 5 hour job to change it over, but then again im only a noob

Theres a lot of stuff to the left of the oil filter. You need to pin point the leak first, then you can fix it.

You said its leaking at the entry point. That could be where the lower radiator hose meets the engine (thermostat housing) or the thermostat housing (bad thermostat gasket) is leaking.

Without being able to see your engine, I can't tell you where its leaking from.

Get ahold of a cooling system pressure tester and pressurize the system with it. If theres leaks anywhere, you'll see it.
