hey everybody...
ill try to explain this as clearly as possible...
on my camry, theres a black mount that is on the left strut tower, and i noticed that the rubber around the end attached to the engine is cracked all the way around... any clues on what caused this or if its killing the engine?

its the dogbone mount - it handles engine flex. Cause is most likely age, rubber wears in time - and its a pretty easy fix, order one from a parts store, jack up the motor by putting your lift underneath the tranny and then remove/insert.

yeah, if its the same one, it aint no thing to change out. just make sure you have a "presision alignmnet device" (read:hamer) itll probly take you longer to get all the tools out and put them away than to change the mount...its like...$40> at kregans
I've rebuilt mine twice, and left it OFF the car for a four month stretch.
You don't need a jack to change it, it is not load bearing.

If you want to really be savvy, take the OEM one and bust the rubber out.
Then re-build it with some of the 3M window polyurathane. Give it a weekend to harden before you put it in.
