2nd Generation Question about engine.

I had a weird question and have no idea if it would work. I have an 89 camry, and was thinking of putting in a inline 6 from a 93 Supra. But had no idea if it would fit. Or how easy it would be. If anyone knows that would be great.

the simple answer is; no.

the lengthy explanation is; you would have to fabricate custom engine mounts, get a tranny that would bolt up to it, and somehow get it to fit in the engine bay transversly. it will cost ALOT of money,,,

more reasonable swaps would be the JDM 3sfe(~135hp), the 3SGE(~150hp), or 3sgte(~200HP), all of which will fit in the enigne bay with no problem. however, if you go with the 3SGE or 3SGTE you will need to swap in a transmission that can handle the power, such as an E153 from a Solara.

The simple answer is not NO!!! It's YES.
You'd have to do alot of custom work..and it MAY not be worth the hassle when the are other engines out there that'll perform just as good with much less work.
But, if your up for it.....
Basiclly as userlain said, youll need custom mounts..and were not just talking about simple bracekts here..possible the chassis would have to be redesigned. You have to find a way to house a RWD gearbox under your firewall..and run tailshaft to the diff, which you'd have to find some where for. The once all thats in..you'd have to find a place for the exhaust to run...
Alot of work...way over $15K...but still..anythings possible.

OK cool thanks, thought it would be asking to much of an older car lol, for 15k i might as well buy a supra :P. But still, with the celica engine your refering to, can you take the turbo off, without hurting the engine? I'm on my p's and they banned turbos here for us. lol

You can just put in a 3S-GE, which is the naturally aspirated version of the 3S-GTE (T stands for turbo). It'd be a pretty sizable increase in power with negligable amounts of weight gain, would be a nice swap.

3sge would be the easy it'll mount to your stock engine mounts and you just have to figure out a lil bit of wiring
