0-100 Too Slow

Just tested my 0-100Km time on the flattest road possible around here and was shocked to see how crappy the results were. 10.93 seconds, please don't laugh. The tank was 3/4 full and the road had a very slight incline and it was fairly hot outside but I'm sure that's what they all say. I have recently had my timing, sparks, HT leads, fuel filter, air filter & oil changed so things should be OK. Have reset ECU, cut hole in airbox (under filter), checked tyre pressure and even waxed the damn car for minimum drag. Oh, fuel is regular 91 Octane.

the car does seem to lose a lot of time on it's 1st - 2nd gear change which is very harsh and seems to have a flat spot in 2nd. I have tightened up the kick down cable to make the gear changes quicker but it doesn't fix that flat spot.

What should the Camry acceleration times be for a stock, 1994 3.0L V6? I've yet to try the acetone in the fuel but will try anything for a less laughable 0-100 time.

LOL! Not the way the Camry accelerates I won't. Cars in Australia don't seem to be tuned as well as European ones, probably something to do with fuel being so damned expensive over there. I had a little 1.4l in the UK that did 0-100km in a little over 7 seconds. Don't get me wrong though, wouldn't give up the comfort of the Camry. Just trying to improve on the acceleration and maybe find a solution for a crappy flat spot in second gear.

And yes, I know I'm asking for trouble bagging the tuning of cars over here with the likes of SS Commodores & Falcon XR8's. They are on my xmas wish list.

yeah thats what i thought too....
i was wondering why our 0-100km times are always slower than other countries with the same car

anyway, according to Toyota Aus the current model Camry V6 (4sp auto) does 9.3s and (5sp manual) does 8.3s

so the time you measure doesnt seem too slow comparatively
depends on what you used to measure it with, you have to take into account the margin of error in there somewhere

Used a stopwatch but was probably a little inaccurate as was accelerating heavily back onto freeway. Glad to hear that age hasn't affected it too much. Does have a broken engine mount that needs to be fixed which doesn't help during gear changes.

As far as I can remember, the lowest octane rated fuel in the UK was about 93 or 95 so tuning must be different. Be interesting to find out what needs to be changed to gain those extra kWs.

well, the expensive route would be to get some kind of tool to alter the fuel maps (Standalone or SAFC) and have a dyno shop (or yourself for that matter) set it up to optimize your acceleration. Like i said, very expensive route. There have been a lot of really cheap ideas floating around lately (most by Toysrme) about how to make slight changes to help the car out a little, one that comes to mind right off is that air diffuser he made (part IV or V, i can't remember) idk, just look around, i'm sure there is something somewhere that could help.

From what we learned with terra, the holden and other Camry knock-off's in Australia are *heavier* than the ES 300's, which are all between 100-150lbs heavier than a camry.

So... Say 0-60mph (0-100km) in 9 seconds would be average.
Stock I ran 0-60mph in 9.3 when I put an extra 150-200lbs of audio in the car. (Typical driving weight for me is 3457lbs, I've fallen between 3450 and 3465 at the local dump scales a good half-dozen times with a 1/4 tank of gas and not-stripped)

Drop some weight and you might get down to 8 1/2 0-60. I wouldn't expect anyone to run 8 flat on an A/T with any amount of small modding.

yeah thats probably right

but the Vienta isnt a Camry knockoff
its what Toyota Australia called a Camry V6 for the Gen3, 3.5 & 4s, they ended up changing it to Camry V6 for the Gen4.5s+

i run consistant flat 9.4's (hot) and 9's (cold) stop watached 0-100 these days (stereo and sound matting)... ive done a bit of engine clean up, thats about it. but yeah.... 11 is really bad...

im kindea thinking you got a clogged cat or exhaust or something... there shouldnt be a flat spot around 4k rpm... well, there is, but its not really noticible =\

wheres the flat spot at?

maybe whoever did the service fucked it up?

I gotta feeling the timing isn't quite right but pretty sure it's always had the flat spot. Will try to find out exactly what revs 1st goes to 2nd later.
