From what I hear, the weapon R units are ok, but the filter sucks. I have never tried the hyper, but I carry it, because its for the Camry. I know that neither unit is cold air, so it is mainly going to make your car sound better. If you want to wait awhile longer, I have been talking with some people trying to get a front mount unit.
Thanks for your support

soo.... i would really like to upgrade the intake... these should slightly increase gas mileage, shoudlnt they? plus a slight increase in power? whats the difference in these from a cold air intake?
about the filter.... could i get a K&N and drop it in there?

if you are coming from a stock airbox, yes you will gain some definitely at high end. you might lose a little low end torque, but its well worth it for the sound.
the difference btw this and the CAI is that the CAI always takes in cold, easy to compress air. a filter in the engine bay sucks in heated air, and you dont get as much power. a CAI has more piping that actually routes it to under the bumper, away from the hot engine.
yes you can buy a K&N filter to put on the weapon R intake... you just have to find the right outlet diameter.
if your asking if the K&N a cold air nope. its not. I got my short ram intake from ebay for like $50. I never found a cold air intake for my camry. i know if you get a wepon r intake you can get a adapter that let in more cold air. it's like this if you have a short intake your sucking the hot air from your engine. cold air intake are much longer so that it get the fresh air instead. thats form my understanding.
what is the basic install of a CAI or air intake...do u just take out that huge black box along with the black tubing and replace it with a aluminum tube with a filter on the end?

so all i would have to do to a weapon r intake is extend the piping to close to the ground, and basically it would be a cold air intake? ive heard of people talking about heat sheilds? how could i do that?

yup you guys is on the right track. the heat sheild just prvent yuo from sucking in hot air from your engine. but a cold air will be always be better. my friend got a custom cold air made for his 93 ledgen. it cost him like 200. try to look around and see if you get it done. thats my next step. but you cand buy a intake on ebay for like $50 on ebay. hit me up if you guys have any question.[/quote]
RS Akimoto makes an air intake for the 3rd gen. Camry but i don't know if it's cold air or not. I went to my local speed shop and they made me a custom CAI for $200 and man it is definately worth it . But if u want to check out the RS intake u can look at
http://www.wholesalehyperformance.com i know they carry em
EL also makes a cold air intake for v6 camry's. i believe theirs is in the range of 250 or something, and you have to have it shipped too
you can always make your own CAI< thats what i did. it cost me about 35 dollars total (USD), and took about 3-4 hours to make. installation, the easiest is to take off the left front wheel, take out the plastic sh!t along the inside of the wheel well, and put the piping behind the fender. its a lot more involved than installing a short ram intake. only problem is your filter will get soaked during a storm.
making the first one was hard, but when i made seans, it was easy b/c i had a blueprint to work from. next in line for my homemade CAI is racerhex!!
Yeah, thanks to Jon, I have a CAI. Unfortunately, on top of running the business, I work in all my free time so I have money to buy the same things you guys are.
Anyway, the other problem with EL Prototypes intakes is they aren't seeing then, at least last I heard. They were having some issues. If they are however making them, I will carry them soon enough.
