Should I get Headers

I went to a custom exhaust fabrication shop to get headers ,y-pipe, and eliminate the main Cat on my gen4 V6 Camry. The estimated cost w/labor was $1000. I was wondering... I heard headers dont give much power and it is the majority of the price of this package. So I was wondering if how much power I will get out of it. Should I just get y-pipe and delete my main cat? how much power would I get out of that?

well a full sey would definatly let your engine breath, thats for sure.. but if your handy enough with finding another less expensive headers that will fit your car.. thats an option too.. but i dont believe ur gonna see a dramatic increase anyways, but you will definatly notice
and yea running with the cat off will boost ur power a little as well.. depends of if your willing to pay 1000 or search for another shop.. or part buy till you got what you need

hope that helps a little

Well, from my knowledge of cars, headers won't give you as much power. Probably no more than 5-10 hp. Camry's aren't Hondas so it's harder to find parts of the same caliber as Honda parts. As for the headers again, like what corolla said, you won't see much power increase. The Y-piping might help the engine bring out more power, but it's minimal. But you will find a some difference in power once you get the headers and y-pipes. I'd keep the cats but it's up to you.

P.S. Corolla, you still got that picture I drew for you?

if you can afford it, then YES.

If you have a stock exhaust right now, and you plan to get headers, y-pipe, and a full catback too, then you should be able to pick up around 10hp to a bit more at the wheels if you also have a cai to open up the flow from both ends.

the only thing is though- these numbers are dependent on well designed headers and a y-pipe with some r&d behind it, such as those available through JPheaders, and is useable throughout the powerband

if you just get headers and a y-pipe made that haven't been designed properly, you may not even get much gain- much less useable power- a gain of peak power at 6K rpm isn't going to help you much

so long story short. if you want to spend money on headers. go get the jpheaders and skip the "custom headers"
