Cool

Ya, go a head and change the fluid out.
If you have a v6 (or i4, if they have one, I don't know)
Check the dog-bone mount. If it's worn out the engine is going to clunk every time it rocks backwards/forewards.

Its on the far left side. Connected near the strut tower. Looks just like a dog bone.

i have been chasing down this exact problem since i got my car. when im driving along it seems like it slams into O/D at around 45mph. i really suspect its the engine mounts or the engine shock absorber. i disconnected the engine shock absorber over the weekend and it actually seems to be better. i think i may spring for the engine shock absorber(~$75 from the stealer) since my mounts appear to be fine and its the only thing i can think it is.
i will let u know how it works out... or do the same for me if you solve ur problem first.
i am actually kinda glad to hear that someone else is experiencing the problem. it really does feel like the transmission but i think its the mounts or engine shock absorber.

the harder it feels, the less mounting/dapening you got for ya engine

solid mounts for that extra 1hp! :P you dont loose power to the mounts moving :P~

it so great all these kiddies buying body kits, lowering cars, trying to make it go faster etc, they go to teh most extremes... then complain when theyre loosing less power at a gear shift then if it shifted smooth lol

:P
