A clog, bad water pump, or bhg (blown head gasket) would cause the engine to overheat.
I would start by checking/replacing the simple stuff like the radiator cap. If the radiator cap is not holding pressure, it could cause fluid to overflow into the reservoir.
As for the cold start issue. Check the cold start injector and cold start timing switch.
The cold start injector is in the middle of the intake manifold. Right below where it says EFI.
You can remove it and clean it with brake parts cleaner or carb cleaner. The little hole on it gets clogged with carbon buildup.
Cold start timing switch screws into a neck, which is bolted to the right side of the cylinder head.
How to check the cold start injector and start injector time s/w (cold start timing switch):
Cold start injector
----------------------
2 - 1: 12 volts while start injector time s/w is closed and starter cranking
Start injector time s/w
---------------------------
Points open above 35C (95F)
2 - 1: Approx. 20 - 40 ohms below 30C (86F)
2 - 1: Approx. 40 - 60 ohms above 40C (104F)
2 - ground: Approx. 20 - 80 ohms
P.S. Pho is vietnamese noodles. Its some good shit.
