you gotta kind of jiggle it back and forth, side to side, and pull really hard, like you think youre going to break it off. then itll pop off and youll go flying backwards haha. theres a bout 2 or three tabs back there on the casing thatl pop out.

It's easier if you access it from inside the trunk. You can see the tabs from underneath and can see the way they come loose. It's pretty easy once you can see everything.

It's straight forward, pull it up (you'll have to go on an angle due to the window) and it'll come off. you'll see where the bulb sits inside of it then. When I bought my car the 3rd brake light was out and needed to be replaced. Not a hard fix at all.
