MAF problems. need much help

a while back, a few months or so, i was disconnecting my maf sensor to put an intake on my 3vz, the sensor threw a big spark and now my car wont start. It still turns over, and everything inside the car works, including the headlights. I tried to solve the problem by getting another maf from a 93 at the local junkyard, but it still doesn't start. could the spark have damaged the wires connecting to the maf, or damaged the ecu, and thats why my car wont start?? is there any way i can replace the wires? how about cost? any input will be appreciated.

did u check the fuses?

otherwise did a voltmeter or something to test voltage of the sensor, wires, etc.

Cool

OK first things first, stop calling it a MAF. You go ask for a MAF and you'll get the wrong part.

It's an Air-Flow Meter = Vane flap. NOT a hot-wire Mass Air-Flow sensor.

Cut the top of yours open. It'll look like that. There are several things to go wrong.

I'll narrow it down to two things.

1) You shorted, and burned the VC wire in half. This wire supplys 5 volts from the TCCU (ecu) that is metered (so the ECU knows the exact input voltage, and can compair the signals accurately) Obviously the AFM has no power, so nothing works.
2) You've fucked up the fuel pump turn on. This is also housed in the AFM

Before you cut it open, bridge E1 and TE1 in either Diagnostics port, and start cranking. The ECU will then throw codes for intake air tempature (IAT), VS (voltage constant), VS (Voltage signal, THE AFM signal).

If you get no codes, then you need to cut the top off like I said, and see what damage you did.

well i have two afm and i already opened up the bad one when it first happened. some, if not all the connections that were soldered on were disconnected. thats why i bought the used afm in the first place. I tried it and still no start. now im stuck, i really dont know what to do, or know what could be wrong. All of my fuses in the car are fine. even took it to the local toyota dealership and their diagnosticts couldnt even find whats wrong.

Cool

Ughhhh if the connectiosn (the slip on connections) were taken off, then that's because you tugged on the wire without taking the locking band off, and you ripped them out. That will kill either one and you have to re-solder that stuff back together.

Hook either one of them up and test the voltages. I bet you find 0 because you (like i said)
1) shorted the VC wire (supplying power)
(let's change my #2 now)
2) you tugged the wire off the AFM, and ripped the electrical connections OFF (oooor, split the PCB in half)
