Well, it seems a lot of people think it's impossible to convert the Camry's clock to anything.
I've changed my clock color about 5 times in the last couple days, from red, to blue to an indiglo color to my eventual final color: white.
I'll post some pics in a bit when I get use of the Camera.
Thanks to Matt (whocares) for hooking me up with the clock.
any "this thread is useless without pics" comments and you won't get a DIY.
i changed my clock like four years ago ... I just popped the face off and stuck a piece of colored acitate in front of the lcd and put it back together.
how did you do it?

then where the hell's your thread?
shit, had I found your info on TN when I searched through all the lighting crap, I wouldn't have bothered doing my own experimenting. haha
theater lighting trick. Similar to what you did. I used various plastic photography filters in varying stops of light. White was obtained by using a 1/2 stop magenta filter (I actually used 2 to get the white I wanted). Red was obtained by a 2 stop red filter. Indiglow (darker cyan) was obtained with a 1 stop blue filter.
I'll post new pics of my interior with the lighting scheme all done soon and likely a DIY.
I want to convert my turn signals (in dash) to white and then do the gear selectors all with yellow surrounds so the gear selected will glow yellow.
Needles would be easy, just use nail polish or better yet use a reflective type of paint. You can find most in any wal*mart, sherwin williams, wherever stocks a decent supply of paint. I was thinking of doing my gauges in white or red, but the orange works fine and I think white would be too much, I probably wouldn't be able to easily read the dash anymore.
You do need pics.......I wanna see someone successfully change the color of the lights behind the temperature conrols without it looking to dull.
the climate controls will ALWAYS look way duller than the rest of the dash due to the bulbs used. the 3 knobs use one single 74 bulb that has to be distributed between all of them. This is the inherent problem with getting it "bright."
I'm going to shortly make another order of LED's to do some other stuff with. I want to do the dome light (I can't find the size/pn for it though?) and a couple other things like my license plate lights before I dive into my LED tail project with an extra set of tail-lights.
My car's going to be fully dropped tonight so I'll take some pictures of the drop and the interior tonight when I get to the shop.
here's my previous pictures of my interior lighting scheme:
The climate controls look darker from the digital camera metering for the gauges, the compromise leaves the climate controls as a bit of a lackluster, but you can still get the idea.
Just so you guys know too, fitting a 194 behind the climate controls isn't going to happen unless you drill the back out and either tape it or PB Weld it in place, the 74 bulb is a bitch to get in there, let alone a 194/168.
