Gen5 Rusting seats

Yes, I have a 2002 Camry, and my seats are rusting! No, they're not stains, because I tried to wipe them off, and it's in places that couldn't possibly get stained. It doesn't look too bad, but it's probably because it rains a lot where I live, and water just tracks in from jackets and shoes. Words of warning for those of you who live in wet areas.

buy a can of that rubberized bed liner from walmart and sand the whole thing down, getting rid of the rust specs, and paint it, making sure that you can still get all the bolts in with the new paint layer.

That's what i'd do.

I would be willing to bet that if everyone were to check theirs they would probably be the same. When I was working for Toyota I had several cars I had to replace seat covers and things like that under warranty. Well most of them looked the way yours do. Just the moisture in the air can cause rust to form in a matter of hours.about the only way you are going to be able to prevent it is move somewhere were there is no water whatsoever. You could try spraying something like WD-40 or similar product on them jsut a real thin layer on all the metal you are concerned about.
