SRI - Check Engine Light?

Well last summer i put a Short Ram intake on my car (94 Camry LE...4cylinder)
soon after, i would notice the check engine light coming off and on for no reason, especially when it was hot outside...usually it wouldnt stay on for more than 20 or 30 minutes, sometimes less than that.
took it to my mechanic (who is a friend of the family, so i can trust him pretty well) to get it checked out. Since its not a 96 or newer, they cant use that ODBII or whatever that thing is called. they did some diagnostics and determined that it was my shot ram intake, and he said he had seen that happen before, that it wasnt too uncommon. it stopped over the winter time when they cold weather came in, but now that its getting hot again, it starts doing it again.

I was just curious, wondering if anyone else has any insight or if anybody has had these problems before?

Check engine light is for emissions, that's all.

SRI should not affect the Check engine Light.

It could be O2 Sensors, PCV, Vacuum Lines, go to Autozone, they will diagnose. Not SRI.

i put my factory intake back on and the check engine light thing still happens...maybe for the same reason or a different reason. Can AutoZone diagnose it even though they cant check the computer?

That... Is a total joke.

JohnCWms27 open either diagnostic ports and shove a wire/paperclip between E1 and TE1.
Count the trouble code the CEL flashes. Look the code up, there is your problem.

i had heard from AutoZone and also read something on the forum saying you couldnt do that until the 96 models...but i'll try it tomorrow and see what happened. could anyone point me to a thread that shows what the trouble codes are? I think i've seen it here before, but couldnt find it when searching

Better edit that post dude because that is totally false information.
The CEL is for problem diagnosis with the electronics systems/sensors etc on the car...
