I was wondering if theres any resonators for the gen 3 exhaust system. I want to make the car sound a lil bit meaner. I would just go buy some cheap muffler, but I don't have any welding tools, and I really don't want to go out to a shop and let them do it.
I'm pretty sure there is a resonator, just don't know where.
Can anyone tell me where its at, and also if anyone has actaully taken the resonator out, how does it sound like?
I could only find one bolt on muffler and it cost, I believe $600? The bosal? Not sure if thats the name. I'm not going to spend $600 on the camry.

cant do it with out a welder and some pipe ... you gotta replace what you take out.
my advise is to get a haynes manual and read up on your car before attempting anything on your own, if you ask a question like that in a shop you'll end up spending hundreds for them to lie to you and do some bs work

Yes there is and yes you will either need to do some welding or pay someone to do it for you.
After doing a full cat-back custom bent piping and muffler install my car growls like a beast. Remember though the sound changes according to the muffler as well as the other work you do.
Yes you can.
No need to weld it. Do what I did when my Civic's exhaust pipe/muffler rusted so bad they fell off and started draging on the highway. Use exhaust clamps. It'll leak a little bit, but who cares?
I will always stand by my statement that the 3.0L v6's sound ultra mean (like a loud porche) But they are RASPY without some kind of resonation device (i.e. more than jsut a muffler and/or cat).

this is so damn true -- sounds exactly like a porche -- ive had at least 5 ppl comment that to me (5 is a lot ofr how many friens i have lol) :P at idle it burbles like a big v8 but as soon as ya over 2000rpm it wails porche style

hmm.. can I just get a muffler than and just use exhaust clamps and clamp it up? And I wont need to weld? Where can I get exhaust clamps?
Sorry for the noob questions, but eh.. I'm a newb, and theres no other thread about this.
And yea it is kinda ricey. but I don't care, I'm trying to make it sound meaner, not fart can like. And its not like I'm going to think that the sound adds 40fwhp.

and if you're at it just take all the crap out of your cat. and weld it back together, or put a glasspack in place of your cat.
(i dk about emissions regulations in OR, but i am just stating my .02)

It's... A complicated question at best... I say get a used name brand wire-feed (fcaw) welder off ebay. That way when you get more money, you can buy the gas equipment to add to it and turn it into a MIG. If it's a descently made unit, you should be able to teach yourself fairly quickly, and that'll be pleanty to do simply stuff like fabbing brackets, and exhaust pipes.
Depends on your definition of rice. There is notihng wrong with using exhaust clamps...
Eventually I'll get some videos of my car up. No intake, Acoustic Control Induction System flap is closed, major head/manifold porting, no exhaust (right now). It's silly loud. Like terrastrife said, it burbles a ton at idle (from the ignition timing jumping around, helping control the idle) But as soon as that throttle plate cracks open oh wow! You're talking a huge roar as the RPM climb!
My favorite exhaust is still a Y-pipe, no cat, spiral flow resonator into a Borla Pro XS muffler. The only sweeter exhaust sound, is a turbo whining into open air!
