2nd Generation Water in my trunk!

It keeps on coming back. I shop vac it out and it comes back anytime its wet out. The water is mostly in the two outer pockets, usually where you would keep your jack, etc. Any ideas?

How much water? Are your seals cracked or in disrepair on your trunk lid? Are there any holes on the underside allowing water from the tires to get in? I had the same thing but it ended up being a hole by my tires. You might need to gut the trunk and clean it allup and crawl under it while some shines a shop light in the trunk and look for holes. Then use mold and mildew killer to disenfect it.

Alternatively, you could crawl in the trunk on a bright shinny day and close the lid. Now look for the light coming through somewhere. It's best to have someone you trust outside the trunk with the keys; someone who is not a pratical joker.

One common area for water to get in is the seals around the tail lights. Have you changed anything or added anything back there recently?

Good luck with the problem.

Mike

My Camry had water in the outer trunk pockets when I bought it because the trunk latch was loose and the lid wasn't closing tight against the seal.

very very very very common problem. i dont know the cause of it, but just about every camry i know has a small or large water problem in the sides of the trunks.

i say just drill a hole in the bottom to drain.

i had the same problem. Turned out to be the seals around my tail lights. I just used some silicone sealant to fix the problem
