Engine Code - Noob - Sorry, I searched

Sorry, I searched and could not find it.

Can anyone tell me what my engine code is? I have a 98 Camry, 4 cyl. I need to change the timing belt so I need to get the right instructions off the net.

Thanks.

5S-FE

It's written on the timing belt cover in white letters, at least my v6.

Well, these forums are pretty good.

you should look at the Gen 3 Camry toyota manual posted on the top of this page, and it should outline the procedure as the Gen 3 and 4 both used the same four cylinder engine.

Sorry to keep bothering you. You said at the top of the page...where at, at the top of the page? I'm not sure what I am looking for.

Thanks for all your help.

If you have a v6 5SFE, then obviously since he has an i4, he can't have a 5SFE...

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

^hahah

not what he meant, but ok. His engine code is written on the timing belt cover, and perhaps speculated the 5sfe would be too, and 5sfe is the code for the 4cyl camry for that particular model year.
