Ok am I doing/ordering this wrong...I read the owner's manual and the only air filter I could find was the one behind the glove compartment? The K&N filter I bought was way too big for that little air filter behind the glove compartment...(Air conditioner air filter?). So is there another one located somewhere in my car (Under my hood) Please help advise?
Yeah i'm a noob...=P I've read some forums as to how to take out the filter by unscrewing 2 screws, lifting it up and pulling it out but the filter but...where's the beef (air filter)?
Just did mine yesterday. If it's a V6, its the black box just behind the battery close to the size of the battery. 2x10mm bolts on the sides toward the right of the box when looking at it standing in front of the car. The bolts do not come all the way off from the top portion. Just unscrew them till they're nice and loose, lift the top portion up and the filter is right under. I also loosened the clamp holding the intake hose on the engine side and disconnected the electrical cable on the top so I could lift the top off completely and take a look in the box. Cleaned out a couple of bugs from the bottom.
THe one inside the glove is probably the A/C filter, the air filter for the engine is located behind the valve cover. The one with the accordian hose and the semi-triangle thingy? Wait no, that's the air intake. The air filter is like what grey said, behind the battery that's bigger than the battery.
Yeah, you were looking at the wrong filter. That is for the performance air filter for your airbox.

OMG those bolts seem to be impossible to get out?! what tools did you use to get them out?
I tried all my car tools but some are too small and some are too bulky to squeeze in those little spots.

I used a 3/8" ratchet, 6" extension, and a 10mm deep socket. The bolts do not come all the way out. You can only loosen them until they are no longer threaded into the bottom half of the air cleaner box. Remember, this is a "Japanese" car. All the nuts and bolts are metric sizes. If you are using US SAE tools, you will have major problems and end up stripping the shoulders off of the nuts and bolts.
I didn't have any tools to replace mine, I went to a mechanic at a gas station and he did it for me in 2 minutes. He said no charge but I gave him $5.
Or when you get your oil changed and they check the air filter, just ask them to put yours in.
