If you are going to waste your money on a kit, get one that uses OEM components and rebased OEM bulbs. Please don't go higher than 4100k. Higher the K the less light. 8000k will be in the range of halogen brightness.

I had rebased philips 4100k d2r bulbs in my gen 5.5 and it was not much brighter and the pattern was AWEFUL.

I just finished my retrofit with TSX projectors and it is night and day (no pun intended) difference.

If you are going to go with a kit get rebased bulbs and OEM ballasts so you can reuse the ballasts when you (inevitably) upgrade to a retrofit.

HIDplanet.com forums has a wealth of information. Try there before making and decisions.

i think you should get around the range of 6000K-8000K just type in kelvin temp in google and read about it. It'll have ranges from a candle to twilight.
