I was wondering if there is any way of hollowingout the insie of my backseat, and placing my amps in there. I've seen it done before but im not sure ho thy did it. And they would hve to find some way to reinforce the seats right? if anyone has any info on how they do this, or knows anyone who could help hit me up.
Not a good idea man! Amps generate alot of heat and need air to circulate around it to keep it cool. But if you really wanna do it, it would prolly involve removing some of the foam padding and then building a box that would fit snug in that cavity that you just created, then just drop the amp in the box.
If you go through this site, I'm sure you'll get some ideas as to how to takle this project:

Yeah, I agree with Phi on that one...insulating an amp isn't good. Most amps need to be positioned a certain way so that the "fins" on the amp can cool itself down sufficiently. They also sell amps that have built in fans in them to cool themselves down.
My amps are mounted to the back of my seats but since they're not too powerful and I don't really crank it anymore, I'm not worried about overheating.
so wait.... you want to completely cover the amp??? i thought you just meant cutting a whole in the seat and stickin it in there... you know what i mean?

well... overheating is always concern whenever you surrond your amp with anything. you would need to cut out the material where your amp is to go. and create some sort of backing for the amp to mount on. i would line this backing with some metal flashing so that the amp can conduct heat away. make sure the heatsink has full access to a fresh air source too.

yea cut it out, and make sure the built in fan can do its business. my amp is mounted on the back of my box, and when my seats are up i have a problem with overheating sometimes.... but it gets soooo hot down here i dont blame the thing.

why not mount it along the side of the wall of the trunk? the amp on the trunk lid might not work as well. its alil too heavy for the lid. phi is right if you want to get some nice idea go to sounddomain.com they got some really crazy installs.
