transmission oil

Hello All,
I own a 1994 Camry V6LE, the car is running fine, have over 300000 km on it. I do regular maintenance on it thru the shop. I wonder is that all they (shop) do just lost the plug under the car and let the transmission fluids ran out, put the plug in and all new fluids back in.
Also I ask them to change the gas filter and just the parts cost me over $ 45.00 and I didn't see anywhere in the owner manuall say I have to change it. Do I have to change it and how offen I have to change it.

it's just good maintence to change the filters. like the ac filter in your home you don't need to but it helps to do so
