3rd Generation 5s-fe head Bolt probs?

hey all, was getting ready to put my newly p & p'ed 5s-fe head back on (with new head bolts)..and relized..i have no clue what socket this head bolt is gonna take..i tried a 13mm which fit pretty snug but when i started to tq it..it slipped right off. 1/2 " was close too, but no cigar..So i take it sears and they said it was a torq socket..So i buy a torq set and that didnt work either.any ideas.

* Im trying to get the old stock head off..i bought an extra head so i wouldt have any down time.

Nope ..that didnt cut it..seems as tho whoever has this engine before me swapped out the head bolts..Looks like it had a blown headgasket too...Anyways, he went with a different style head bolt..had to use a reverse open ended (T)orque socket (big star)..thanks for the info tho.

^^ diff style head bolt?? bad idea on his part. Despite their appearance bolts are very complex, and to change head bolts from stock (unless he had em specially made) was risky, i would reccomend going to ur toyota dealer and buying replacements ther usually only about .80-1.25/bolt

dealers are expensive but these arent bolts, theyre head bolts. if even one of these is slightly weak, it can mean trouble.

Theres no way 10 bolts costs $160.00, unless their ARP head studs.

I bought a head gasket and head bolt package from Toyota for about $40.
