Headlight problem WTF????

I turned my headlights today and realized the my right headlight does not work. So at first I thought it is the bulb but after I look closer my headlight socket was melted I don't know why I use regular bulbs. Now here is the question should I go to junk yard and cut off one or should I go to dealer and order and if anyone knows about one how much do they cost. Also if I let mechanic do the work how much aproxemately should I pay for the labor thank you guys and once again keep those yotas rolling.

How old is your car? The wiring loom may have shorted somewhere and melted the connector, or perhaps the bulb was faulty..never heard of it before! It is possible, that if you get another connector and bulb, it may do the same thing..just might wanna find out...what the problem is before you try and rectify something.

Does anyone know if I was to replace the 9005 harness with a 9006 so It would be like have 4 low beam bulbs on all the time (no high beams) would they work like a low beams or they would still be high beams?

even if you convert your high beams to 9006 wires, they will still act as high beams and work seperately from the low beams... just with a different light intensity since you switch from 9005 to 9006. i haven't done this, ( nor will i ) but here's my suggestion: in order for you to get your high beams to function with you low beams, you can either splice the high beam wires with your low beam wires ( which maybe kinda hard ) or you can always try to mess around with the fuses ( might be even harder ) and see if that would work. again, i haven't done this and these are but suggestions.

honestly, here's what i would do: instead of having 4 low beas lights running, i would save up some money, go to a bmw junkyard and get HIDs of a 5 series to put into my low beams. would need tons of modifying but it would look totally cool in the end. thats what i'm hoping to do next summer. take care!

you can just go to your local auto parts shop and buy a universal 9005 or 9006 harness and splice it in place of the melted one....nice and simple

I have the same problem

Did you fix the problem?

I have a 2004 Camry XLE with the same issue. I replaced the low beam connector about 2 years ago and now I have to replace it again. The connector looks like it is melting. I had thought at 1st maybe something was getting on it. But now you can see that it is melted. I have another connector to replace it but I still do not know what is the cause. According to my meters the current is the same for the left and right side low beams. What I dont know is if the headlight area is sealed and what temp should it be? Or is it electrical?

Thanks,
Jim
