Ok, here's the situation. My mother-in-law's '91 Camry has some accident damage to the left rear, and I'm obtaining the parts for the left rear suspension for her. The car is several hundred miles away (otherwise I could just go look), and she's not car savvy. Is there a way (maybe from the VIN) that I can tell if it has rear drum or disk brakes?

Particulars: 1991 Camry DX, 2.0 L 4 (3S-FE), US built.

Did the rear disks only come on V6 models (I have an '89 DX V6, it's got rear disks), or did some 4 cyl DX models also get them?

My 91 Camry DX 3S-FE has drums in th back, and I think its the same for you mother-in-law. I thought that v-6 gen2s only came with rear disc brakes.

She should have drums. If I remember correctly, only V6 Gen2s had rear discs, and of those only 91's had optional ABS.
