Not starting after cleaning throttle body

I just cleaned my throttle body and might have sprayed the cleaning fluid too much. But now it is not starting. I can hear the starter clicking but the engine is not firing. Can I try it with starter fluid or should I just wait couple of hours and than try.

Will the auto mechanic help?

Well? any sucess yet?
You have to let the cleaning fluid evaporate some... because right now you have a flooded engine, so you may want to pull the EFI fuse, and push the accelelerator/ thottle full open and crank for 3 to 5 seconds and wait a minute and repeat a couple of times. then put the fuse back in and it should start (maybe a bit of sputtering) and then let it run a minute and you will be fine.

So does it actually go WRY WRY WRY WRY WRY, or does it just go CLICK CLICK CLICK?

If it is CLICK CLICK CLICK then you drained your battery somehow.

had same problem with no start after cleaning throttle body

So I had the same problem after cleaning the throttle body with carbuetor cleaner. I did kinda spray a lot inside the throttle body thoigh, literally took a day and a half of putzing with it and I bought new plugs to get it started. I cleaned the throttle initially because I had a "sticky" pedal on takeoffs, that problem is fixed but now it feels as tho the idle is hiccuping, it never actually dies but more jumps from a steady 850ish to almost a 550rpm.

Any ideas?

I put sum fuel injector cleaner in, no help, no codes either...

How can I test my IAC? Are there any type of setting procedures for it because I did unplug it and unscrewed the two bolts that hold it in place during the no start condition just to look at it, but then i put it right back....could that have done something?

And i did use an autozone brand carb cleaner...

Any help would be appreciated

Well i would take that iacv off and clean it perfectly clean w carb cleaner.

While your at it you might as well get a toothbrush and clean that throttle plate perfectly not forgetting to get the left and right on the shaft.....(in order to free it up in case it's sticking).

And then after that you could put in bam's oil catch jar or something similar to keep the throttle plate from becoming gunked up again.

also, on another topic you have an engine that is known to be sludge-prone so i would get a good synthetic oil (amsoil)(cough) to avoid port clogging, etc. That could possibly cause you some grief in the future.

And now that i've opened up several cans of worms i'll sign off now.

Good luck to you !

J

Ahhh!, let just hope you didn't use carb cleaner on TPS. You know it'll damage TPS right? Carb cleaner has petroleum lubricant that will bind to electronic contact and render it useless.
