What is this Electrical\Vac diaphram

What is the electrical / Vacuum diaphram on the air intake opening ?
It operates a square hinged door to allow air in.
At idle the door remains closed and if I accelerate on PARK it still remains closed.
Is this working or does it open up at WOT or when the engine gets hot ?
What is the proper name for it ?

2004 1MZ V6

I'd have to agree with Knailgun. Just recently blew the crap out of mine and got a new one. Not sure why yours doesn't open when accelerater is used in park. It should just open with the pressure of the air flow.

Is it silver with black plastic cover and directly connected to the air filter box? Probably confusing it with my 3VZ-FE tho!

Yes its at the very front of the car before the airbox

Silver and black that sends a vacuum to the square plastic door inside the air snorkel, I guess which allows more outside air to come into the air box. If someone can provide a picture of the engine bay at the front of the car, I could circle it and post it.

not the acis then....but definately not the maf sensor either. the maf sensor doesn't have any door of any kind.

I think a picture would be best.

The Gen5 Camry's have a dual intake system. At higher rpm, it opens up and allows more air into the engine. I don't know the formal name, you might be able to find it on the actual toyota site.

Follow the air scoop in the front, it should split into two and then go to the air filter box.

thats right. It does split into 2. Top pipe is controlled and bottom flows air always to airbox.
